Taking the recovered data

Recovered data is never written to a medium that you brought for recovery  , but always to some other media. Other media can be provided by yourself when you submit the damaged media, or you can select a device from our current offer. If you took the data on the disk purchased from us, the guarantee applies only to the media, and not the data stored on it.

Data takeover is done in our office with the original admission form. The client can't take his recovered data without an admission form. This procedure was introduced as an additional measure of security of your data. If you are unable to take your recovered data personally, it can be delivered to your home adress through some of the courier services.

Recovered data is kept on HelpDisc servers seven days after the date of taking the data.

Make a backup!

It is reccomended to copy the recovered data to atleast one more media. Damage of the media and the data can happen at anytime and that's why we reccomend you to always have all your important data on two separate media. That's the only way to be safe.

What is a backup?

People have common misconceptions about what is and what isn't a backup. We will try to remove some of them:

  • Data that exists in two places on the same hard drive is not a backup!

  • Data that exists on two different partitions of the same hard drive are not a backup!

  • Data stored on an external hard drive is not a backup itself unless it exists on another medium aswell.

So, only the data that exists on two separate media at the same time is a backup.
